GEOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION SYSTEM SPECIALIST


This is a highly responsible administrative and technical position with work in managing and supervising.  The Geographical Information System Specialist position is responsible for administering the City's centralized GIS database, it's creation and maintenance with regard to all planimetric, cadastral, topographic, public utilities and relational database information related to geographical features.  This position is responsible for managing data, software, hardware, projects, documentation, budget planning, daily mapmaking, web design, report generation, department data coordination, acquisition, and City personnel training as they relate to the GIS goals.  This position receives general supervision from the Director of Community Development and the City Engineer.  
Individual must have knowledge of Oracle 10g, Oracle SQLPlus, Autodesk Map 2007, ESRI ArcMap/ArcEditor 9.1, ESRI ArcSDE 9.1, Autodesk Mapguide 6.5, Autodesk Raster Design, Miner & Miner ArcFM 9.1, Safe Software FME Suite, Trimble Pathfinder Office, Microsoft Windows Server and Microsoft IIS, oracle database configuration and backup and a four year degree from a college or university with major course work in geography, computer science, planning or a related field or a combination of education and experience equivalent to a degree.  
The anticipated hiring range is $44,900 to $52,000.  However, the top of the salary range is depending on qualifications.  Applications accepted until filled.
