[OKGIS] NAIP Projections

David,
These photos were contracted for & paid for by the fed's. They like UTM. The vendor could re-project them for us for little or no cost, but they have been told that they can not as a condition of the contract (it would be an unfair advantage over other vendors that could re-project the data "after purchasing it" from the fed's).
Is SCI offering to re-project the entire state into Oklahoma planes north & south (two pieces instead of three) and/or Oklahoma Albers (one piece)? Is SCI going to use the uncompressed photos as source or uncompress, re-project, and recompress the current sets? How much did it cost the Conservation Commission when they re-projected the 1995's?
Just asking.

Has it occurred to anyone to question the logic that is relied on to generate these images in UTM?
While it is certainly possible to extract and re-project the images, it seems like a completely unnecessary step. Does anyone know what drives the use of UTM? Anyone on this list prefer UTM to OK State Plane or Albers?
