Greg,

The National Atlas has several Geology layers related to mining operations.
They are available for download in shapefile format.

Subject: [OKGIS] Grand Lake watershed mining information

One of our contractors for a modeling project is looking to get a polygon
shapefile that would show the spatial extent of mining locations including
surface disturbances, chat and waste piles in the Grand Lake watershed.
They have been creating a landcover classification from a recent satellite
image and would like to overlay the shapefile and use it to categorize those
areas as mining. Since it is for landcover, they are primarily interested
in surficial activities and disturbances as opposed to underground. Any
suggestions regarding where to find such data?
