[OKGIS] Barren Fork or Baron Fork?

I would tend to agree with Mr. Fite, since it agrees with what is shown on 
the Official Government Survey.  However, this has gotten my curiosity 
aroused.  Does anyone know where the name originated?  Since the area was 
occupied at least since the mid 1830's, I wonder if there is any written
