Description:
This supervisory position will coordinate a data warehouse responsible
for the implementation and maintenance of enhancements to Center for
Health Statistics data (i.e. data linkages, geo-coding, electronic web
queries and data release policies).
Duties include, but are not limited to:
-Serving as the coordinator for enhancement of all existing HCI
databases.
-Developing methods for the coordination of Center data enhancement
(i.e. data linkages, geo-coding, electronic web queries and data release
policies).
-Coordinating standardized data linkage procedures (deterministic and
probabilistic).
-Participating in interagency committees or task forces.
-Overseeing the writing and coding of various enhancement systems.
-Specifying users and user access levels for each segment of the
database.
-Developing standards to guide the use and acquisition of data to
protect vulnerable information.
-Identifying and evaluating industry trends in database enhancement
systems to serve as a source of information and advice for center
management.
-Working as a part of a project team to coordinate database enhancement
and determine project scope and limitations.
-Assisting staff with general data requests and the preparation of
reports, articles, and presentations.
-Coordinating grant writing and preparing grant-related report.
-Making public presentations of data in various settings.
-Supervising, planning, and distributing work to others.
Education and Work Experience:
Requirements consist of a master's degree in Information Technology,
Health Informatics, or Statistics and a minimum of five years of
experience in a field involving database management, data linking,
website development, or GIS. Experience with a health organization is
preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Thorough knowledge of appropriate and current theories on data linkage,
relational database management, and other enhancement technologies is
required. Proficiency with SQL and SAS programming languages is also
required, while ESRI GIS products proficiency is preferred. The
applicant must work effectively with both professional and lay-people
and be competent in presenting in technical and non-technical settings.
Strong writing skills are essential. Knowledge of grant-writing and
quality assurance methods for data collection and analysis is required.
