Yes, you may edit a 9.1 geodatabase using ArcGIS Desktop 9.2 without
automatically upgrading the geodatabase itself. ArcGIS 9.1 users will
still be able to view/edit the geodatabase.

If and when you're ready to make the plunge, right-click on the
geodatabase in ArcCatalog and choose Properties. At the bottom of the
General tab, there will be a button called "Upgrade Geodatabase."
Clicking this button will turn the 9.1 geodatabase into a 9.2
geodatabase. Until you click this button, the geodatabase remains in
9.1 format.

To take advantage of the high precision coordinate storage, you'd next
need to right-click on each feature class or dataset and choose Upgrade
Spatial Reference.

Hope this helps,
Stacia

To all,
I am hoping someone can help me with this. Does anyone know if you
open a 9.1 geodatabase using 9.2.....make edits, save...and still have
it
able to be opened in 9.1?

      Thanks,
       John Savicky
