[OKGIS] Plotters?

Hi Mike,
We got an HP5500PS 42" a couple of years ago; that's the Postscript
enabled model which is necessary for plotting GIS and graphics. It's
been a good, really fast, reliable plotter and the big ink bladders just
go and go. As, I recall it's really designed more for photo printing,
as in advertising and design work. For that reason the color balance is
such that it can make some of your solid colors look different;
specifically, solid graphic blues turn out purple, etc; I have not been
able to find a setting to correct this. Some other models print graphic
colors accurately. You'll need to shop around and discover which ones.
If you find out which ones, let me/us know. However, photos look great,
and adjusting/balancing colors on your plots is always necessary,
anyway, so this is still a good plotter.
In any case, when you make your purchase, make sure that you pick a
model with Postscript pre-installed or upgradable to Postscript. We got
burned a few years ago when our old plotter broke down and our
purchasing person purchased a replacement without consulting me. I
didn't do any plotting for a while and when I did I discovered that it
didn't have Postscript and it was not upgradable to Postscript, it was
too late to return it. We used it till we purchased the 5500PS.
Hope this helps.

Subject: [OKGIS] Plotters?
We're in the market for a new a new plotter. I've been looking at the
HP4500, HP5500, and HP1000. Does anybody have any preferences or
suggestions
(HP or other bands)?
