Entry Level GIS Analyst


 

 

Petro-Hunt LLC. a leader in the Oil and Gas industry, is seeking an
entry level GIS Analyst to work in the Petro-Hunt LLC., Land Department.


 

 

Job Description:

This position requires knowledge of Geographic Information System
practices, procedures, and software, specifically ArcGIS. This position
will perform various GIS tasks such as oil and gas lease mapping and the
editing of various GIS feature classes. The candidate will be
responsible for creating and maintaining GIS data as well as fulfilling
map and data requests.  Duties require a variety of computing and
communication skills, and familiarity with various operating
environments, applications and equipment. The individual will work
independently but work will be closely checked.

 

 

Representative Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

*         Correct geographical errors in various feature classes.

*         Digitize features from location on a map, legal descriptions
and\or aerial photographs.

*         Enforce topological relationships and perform data cleanup.

*         Populate required attributes from various sources.

 

 

Education requirements: 

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Geography, Geology,
GIS, or similar field, with a minimum of 1 year full time hands-on
experience with ESRI software, or equivalent education/work experience
in a closely related field to include 2 years full time hands-on
experience.  

 

 

Position requires: 

Must be at a level to perform a high percentage of tasks independently
without the assistance of the GIS Manager.  Must have excellent oral and
written communication skills.  Must be able to work efficiently with
little supervision and have and aptitude for brainstorming and problem
solving.  Must be able to work on many projects at once and have
excellent time management abilities.

Expected Travel Time: Travel will be only on special occasions.
