  Hi Brett

I went through this a few weeks ago with some AV3 users here at my agency.

The 2006 and 2005 NAIP photos use a new format of SID file. The standard ArcView 3.X MrSid viewer extension cannot view them. However, you can download a free update of the extension from LizardTech, here.

Don't know about ArcExplorer. Probably out of luck, since a free product. ESRI's new product ArcGIS Explorer 9.2, a Google Earth knock-off, ought to be able to view it. It's my understanding that it will be available to the general public in the future, but right now it's only available to licensed ArcGIS users.

  Cheers,
  David

We recently downloaded the 2006 Rogers county mosaic from geo.ou.edu

We are having problems viewing this .sid file in ArcView 3.3 and ArcExplorer. (error message = "not valid image file")

Can anyone direct us to some information that may help resolve this issue?
