The Mid-America Geographic Information Consortium (MAGIC) through a
National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI) Cooperative Agreement
Program grant has developed the MAGIC Metadata Triage workshop program
and materials. Each of the MAGIC states is hosting metadata workshops
geared towards data creators and users interested in realizing better
metadata within their respective states and the GIS community in
general. All are welcome.
Topics of this workshop include:
1) Understanding metadata
2) The value of metadata
3) Searching with metadata
4) Creating and working with metadata
This workshop is intended for anyone who creates or maintains GIS data,
as well as those interested in sharing their data with others.
Maintaining good metadata will save you time, not only as a reminder of
how and when the data was created, but also giving others information
about your data, saving them from having to call you with questions
regarding your data. Users may bring their own data to create metadata
for as part of the afternoon metadata creation exercise.
Workshop Information:
Location: Oklahoma DEQ, 707 N Robinson, Oklahoma City, OK 73102
Date: May 6, 2008
Time: 9:00 - 4:00 (lunch on your own)
Please contact Shellie Willoughby at
shellie.willoughby at conservation.ok.gov to register for the workshop - a
limited number of seats are available so please register early.
We look forward to seeing you on the 6th.
