[OKGIS] RE: Map Projection Gaffe (Todd Fagin)

Cool!  I wasn't familiar with this one, only the North Korea/Economist one.

What I cannot tell from a quick read of the article, though, is if the
corrected maps were actually the result of an egregious mapping error, as
was the case in the Economist example, or something else.  All the article
states is that there was "inconsistent DOD range maps for the DF-5A."  This
is, nonetheless, another good example to use.

Hi Todd,

You're in luck: this is probably my favorite cartographic screwup of all
time.  I subscribe to the Economist and was able to pull the CORRECTED map
from the site, but they've done a thorough job of erasing any electronic
copies of the original... so I just scanned it in from my copy.  It's not
the best quality as my scanner is pretty pathetic.  If you need a better
one, it's from the 03 May 2003 issue.  You'll find both images attached.
