GIS Technician 

 

DESCRIPTION:

Southwestern Energy Company is currently accepting on-line applications
for a GIS Technician.  This position is based in Fayetteville, Arkansas,
working with assets in Arkansas and Oklahoma.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The GIS Technician will be responsible for supporting Asset Teams in the
following areas:

*	Producing maps from aerial photos, remote sensing, internet
research, and acquisition of data from various sources for presentations
and lease/contract analysis.
*	Providing detailed, quality, and error-free documentation and
maps for use in petroleum exploration.
*	Preparing maps and drawings of natural gas facilities and
maintaining the GIS database.
*	Using GIS software to produce finished maps, designs and
drawings of natural gas facilities and infrastructure. 
*	Developing, drafting and researching information to prepare
finished drawings of facilities.
*	Creating drawings to assist the Engineering Department with the
design and construction of proposed new facilities.
*	The GIS Technician will also be responsible for supporting the
Corporate GIS Team in the following areas:

	1.	Identifying and collecting appropriate asset team
spatial data.
	2.	Documenting and standardizing data management workflow
processes and data attributes.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

*	Legally authorized to work in the United States on a regular
full-time basis without restrictions. 
*	B.S. degree in GIS, Geography, Geology, or related field
*	Working experience in a GIS-related role (Technician, Analyst) a
plus
*	Working experience in the oil and gas industry a plus
*	Proficient (perform the skill with limited assistance) with MS
Office products: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access. 
*	Ability to handle multiple tasks and efficiently prioritize work
to meet deadlines.
*	Ability to research, find, analyze, and use various types of
data sources from maps, geological surveys, and online resources.
*	Must have experience with drafting/mapping using ESRI Desktop
products, AutoCad, GlobalMapper, and other GIS applications; Adobe
Illustrator proficiency a plus.
*	High degree of technical proficiency; advanced skills in the use
of a wide array of GIS tools, as well as strong graphic design
background and experience troubleshooting/updating computer software and
hardware.

*	Candidate must be a self-motivated team player able to conform
to and maintain corporate GIS standards. 




SKILLS: 

*	Knowledge of Cartography/Geography and spatial concepts.
*	Fundamental database knowledge with Access including exposure to
related RDBMS such as SQL or Oracle.
*	Good analytical and creative problem solver.
*	Work cooperatively and jointly with other groups to provide
quality spatial and tabular deliverables.
*	Ability to provide team members/upper management high-quality
cartographic products 
*	Good writing skills - for documentation, processes, and
training.
*	Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with
employees, team members, and internal teams. 
*	GIS programming experience with Python, ArcObjects, VBA/VBScript
a huge plus.
*	Experience writing complex SQL statements also a plus.
