Hi K.C.,

If you are trying to link to folders with absolute paths, the following works.

Create a new field in the attribute table of type "text" and call the field "links". Then edit the field's values to reflect folder paths on the system. Finally, under the "Layer Properties | Display" tab, check "Support Hyperlinks using field:" and chose the "links" field. Make sure that "Document" is checked immediately below, then hit OK.

Using this approach, I can click on the active hyperlinks and a windows file manager opens to the correct place for me in ArcMap 9.2. I hope this helps.

Subject: [OKGIS] Hyperlinking to Folders

Using ArcMap, I am attempting to hyperlink individual features, (most of which are in the same layer) to individual folders containing various items such as word docs, excel spreadsheets, pdf, tif, jpeg, images etc.. However, my problem with this is that the names of those various items are very likely to be changing often. Is there a way to link to the folder name without having to specify the contents?

Any help would be greatly appreciated……

Thanks
