Paul,
I searched high and low after seeing this in an esri story a few years ago. I thought it was done in an esri product. Is it possible to get the cad drawing? Is ther any automation with the data or is each symbol created manually?
Thanks
Brad

Los Alamos National Laboratory did something similar to this with a point feature created from Autocad.  The symbol was concentric circles to show depth and dividers to show the years that the information was taken.  I've done a little draw up for you to look at.  Is this what you had in mind?
