This is true. With local number portability, you don't know where the
numbers are anymore. Although there is still a large embedded base,
your data would definitely be skewed.

I'd add a question to your survey asking people what ZIP Code they live
in. I'm not sure the phone company folks are sticking to geographic
areas for phone numbers any more. I know that cell phone numbers aren't
related to geography.

I am trying to locate .shp files / boundary files for phone number
prefixes in Oklahoma (not just area code). We are trying to map survey
data based on a phone survey, and even if they overlap, these shapefiles
would be very helpful. Does anyone have any ideas on where I could find
