You can save relative path names instead of full path names in your map document (File > Map Properties > Data Source Options > Store relative path names) .  That way as long as you keep the data and the map together in the same folder, then you should not have to reset your data source.  At least that's how it has worked out for me.  There may be other ways.

I am moving projects from one drive to another. Does anyone know if there is a way to do this without having to re-set the data source for each shapefile?
