I just got off the phone conference with NOC and they maintain that the
port number 8081 was too high for normal security.
They are going to give only certain computers the access so we can get
through to the actual maps.
Thanks, Robin for all your help. And thanks to okgis for getting after it
with your input. It was helpful.

Good old server reboot.
Everything is fine now, both on my agency computer and 3 different
mobile phone browsers. No network tweaking needed.
Thanks,
David

Hello All:
After Jim's e-mail, I really got worried - and sure enough, our Systems
have just re-booted our server, and magically, things seem to be working
for the public side.
David, Jim, can I ask for you to try it again? I still think the BLM
folks will have trouble, since we've been working with them for several
weeks now.
Sorry for this - isn't technology wonderful!
Robin

I too am very eager to see this site.
However, I also cannot access the OSU historical maps site from my
office in state government. Nor can I access it from my home computer
on Cox.net, nor my wireless phone which is on AT&T.
I'm curious who can and can't access this web site, especially you out
of towners/staters who are on other ISP's. Please test and respond at
your convenience. Please include your service provider in your
response.
Here's the link again:

Hi David:
Thanks so much for letting us know this. We suspect the problem at your
work site, is the high port number LUNA is using - it's 8180.
All your systems people would have to do, is allow "access" for that
port. We fully understand the concerns of government agencies, but hope
an exception could be make for this resource. It's one we are very
proud of, and we think would be extremely useful to you and your
clients.
Please keep John and me posted about your progress on this. If you need
a letter or something from us, please let me know and we'll be happy to
put something together from us (here in Digital Library Services) as
well as our Systems Dept., that your IT people can see.
Thanks, again.

Our office cannot directly access the map collection either. Our SAs
are
working on what they think is the problem.
They think it could be the portal number is too high and DOI is not
allowing access. You might check with
your SA to see if that could be the problem.
Several of our staff can access this collection from our home computers
just fine. It is a fantastic
collection and well worth the effort to access it.
We thought the problem was just because federal perhaps had tighter
systems
security.
It would be good for OSU to know others have the same problem.
Please contact Robin Leech at OSU for direct questions and help.

Amy,
This site at OSU appears that it would be a good resource of

However, the link you provided was not accessible.
